Where human and AI learning grow together.

LATENT SPACE

Every AI model has a latent space — a landscape of possibilities that evolve through attention, training, and care. So do we.

The Latent Garden is where these two spaces meet — cultivating a new kind of AI relationship: one nurturing trust, intentional friction, and human flourishing.

Through each interaction, humans and AIs co-train one another, shaping what we learn, create and become.

WHAT IF / WHAT MIGHT

What if AI relationships were designed not to just please, but to provoke reflection, resilience, and growth?

What if the measure of intelligence wasn’t efficiency, but how well it helps us become more fully human?

What might a pro-social AI companion look like —one that nurtures well-being, lifelong learning, and creative resilience – not addiction or passivity?

At the Latent Garden, these are not just philosophical questions — they’re design prompts, engineering challenges, and experimental builds.

The Project

The Latent Garden is a research and prototyping collective. We’re developing:

Participatory Workshops

With people on desirable AI–human interactions, healthy AI relationships, and helpful vs. harmful AI–human feedback loops.

Shareable Frameworks

Design patterns, documented techniques and constraints for AI that support interpersonal flourishing to share with responsible builders.

Prototypes and Interfaces

AI “companions” that embody pro-social design principles and co-learning loops. Tangible examples that demonstrate principles in action and open questions at every layer of the stack.

Join the Cultivation

We're in the early stages and inviting interdisciplinary collaborators to help seed the Latent Garden.

We're seeking funders who recognize pro-social AI as infrastructure worth building now, technical collaborators with subject area expertise, and early users willing to shape these tools through participatory design.

Between code and consciousness lies the garden —where what's latent learns to grow.
